Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Residency Director, the Pharmacy Resident is responsible for the safe, effective, and cost-effective use of drugs through the application of specialized knowledge, skills, and professional judgment. The Pharmacy Resident shall perform drug packaging, patient billing, all aspects of drug compounding and distributions, shall provide drug information and clinical services to all health professionals and patients, and monitor all aspects of drug therapy in the facility. The Pharmacy Resident supervises pharmacy technicians and inters. The Pharmacy Resident operates in a more clearly defined area of practice and/or provides a specialized scope of pharmacy services as specified by the Pharmacy Residency Director. This framework meets the goals of patient care and/or departmental operations. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Application submitted to the Colorado Board of Pharmacy as a registered Pharmacist. ACLS and PALS within first 12 months of employment.
B. Education: BS or Pharm D in Pharmacy required.
C. Experience: None required.
D. Special Qualifications: Must have the ability to type and have effective oral and written communication skills and computer skills. Demonstrated skills commensurate with formal training.
Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Pharmacy Residency Director. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Ages of Patients Served: This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
