Job Title : RN Trauma Clinical Coordinator
Hospital : Swedish Medical Center Department . Level 1 Trauma Center
Swedish Medical Center Trauma Program :
Responsible for the identification and clinical evaluation and tracking of trauma service patients. Directs ongoing patient tracking, chart abstracting, and data entry of trauma service patients into the trauma registry data bank. Responsible for quality assessment of patient care to include assisting with design and development of QA indicators, active participation in outcome review, and initial screening for peer review issues. All trauma registry data and QA activities will comply with state and national guidelines to include the state trauma rules and regulations, American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Optimal Guidelines, and JCAHO criteria. Provides ongoing statistical reports and assists with developing specialized reports as required or assigned. Participates in trauma research as appropriate. Serves as a liaison between the trauma service and related departments. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor. When department has more than 1 TCC, the various duties of the position will be distributed among the staff and not all staff members may be assigned to perform all functions at a given time.
Education: BSN or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Experience: Prefer experience as a Trauma Coordinator. If none, must have three years recent (within past four years) Emergency Department or Critical Care experience, preferably in a trauma center. Experience with Quality Improvement desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have effective verbal communication skills in order to interact in a clear, concise manner with staff, physicians, and administration. Computer skills to include data entry, reporting, and word processing. Typing skills sufficient to complete the job in a timely manner. Must be skilled in time management in order to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks. Must be able to analyze charts to evaluate patient care and review for compliance with trauma standards. Knowledge and experience with ICD-10 and AIS scoring tools is desirable.
