This position supports the
mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial
Medical Plaza optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding
beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole
- The Education Specialist
coordinates and supervises the educational needs of patients in the acute
behavioral health unit.
- Maintains open communication with guardians and the
school staff concerning the educational needs of the patients in the adolescent
- Conducts study session to ensure patients remain current with school
assignments and other educational tasks while in the acute care unit.
- When need
arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications Position Requirements:
Special Education Experience is preferred
- Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Certified
Secondary Education Teacher;
- BCLS – Healthcare provider.
- Graduate of
an education department at an accredited college or university.
- One to two years of behavioral health acute
care environment or special education experience. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge
of pedagogy theory and practice.
- Demonstrates good organizational skills, ability to
teach or mentor in an effective manner, have clinical experience that enhances
this position, and ability to plan and provide for delivery of educational
- Ability to assume
responsibility for self development.
