- The Histology Technologist provides quality service, in a manner timely for neonates through adolescence, and the adult and geriatric patients in the Laboratory in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA Standards.
- He/she functions within the philosophy, policies and procedures of North Suburban Medical Center, Inc., and represents the hospital within and outside the organization with a general feeling of positive support.
- A thorough understanding and application of the Histo-Technology Practice are essential due to the intense field of critical patient testing.
- Therefore, the Laboratory employees must continuously strive to improve clinical testing, confidence and knowledge through formal and informal education, and knowledge of age-related (neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) quality of patient care.
ASCP Registry for Histo
Technology, or eligible ASCP candidate, or equivalent experience. Education:
Two years training in a Histology
Training Program/ASCP preferred. Experience:
Must have thorough knowledge of
methods and procedures for fixing, cutting, and embedding tissue sections;
cutting properties of various types of tissues; staining procedures; methods of
mounting sections for microscopic examination; the use of various types of
microtomes and other histology equipment.
